Food photography continues to grow as one of the most popular genres of photography with approximately over 30 million food photography posts currently on Instagram. Although food photography can be challenging, after learning basic methods participants will be creating excellent shots to post.  In the workshop you will a variety of food styling and techniques used by professional food photographers. Participants will be provided with both classroom and hands on practice with staged food prepared by our instructors and cover topics like studio lighting, composition, gear, and setups.

What you’ll need to brings:

  • Mirrorless, DLSR or Smartphone with Exposure Triangle App

  • Tripod

  • Fully charged battery.

  • Empty memory card. 


What you’ll learn:

  • Lighting and settings for indoor food photography. 

  • Effective use of Props and Backgrounds

  • Plating enhancements & garnishes

  • Side lighting, Backlighting, Hero Shot

  • Camera Angles: 3/4 Angle, Overhead Angle, Straight-On Angle

  • Composition: Rule of Thirds & Odds, Negative Space, Repetition

  • Styles for Light & Airy and Dark & Moody. 

  • Color Theory & Texture
