Photography 2.0: Beyond the Basics - LIVE ONLINE
You’ve mastered exposure triangle and basic composition rules. Now it’s time to level up. In this live on-line immersive, hands-on workshop, we’ll dive into the creative and technical strategies professional photographers use to go from “pretty good” to “undeniably powerful.” You’ll learn how to sculpt space with lenses, manipulate time through motion, and evoke mood through lighting and composition. This is where intentional photography begins.
Whether you're a portrait photographer, street shooter, or visual storyteller, this workshop will sharpen your artistic edge and deepen your creative voice. To attend this workshop you should know how to shoot in manual mode, know your camera settings and be comfortable using your shooting in different lighting conditions.
Workshop Outline
· Lens Compression & Spatial Awareness: Use focal length to alter spatial perception—manipulating how far apart or close together subjects appear relative to one another. This has a profound effect on depth, emotion, and viewer engagement.
· Color & Mood: Use white balance settings and ambient light temperatures to intentionally influence the emotional tone of your image.
· Motion & Emotion: Use intentional blur (via shutter speed manipulation) to suggest movement, time, or emotional energy in a still frame.
· Light Quality & Visual Texture: Understand how hard vs. soft light and the direction of light shape not only the exposure, but the emotional tone, depth, and texture of an image.
· Composition & Visual Hierarchy: Use composition techniques to guide the viewer’s attention intentionally, rather than leaving it to chance. Think of your frame like a stage: where do you want the eyes to go first? What’s the path?
· Storytelling in One Frame: Use context, metaphor, symbolism, and visual clues to tell a story in a single still image.
Workshop Highlights
· Live Online 2 hour interactive workshop (indoor and outdoor shooting)
· Real-time instruction with practice assignments
· Practice worksheets and take-home guides
· Portfolio development insights
· Optional follow up critique session
Skill Level & Gear Requirements
· Intermediate to advanced photographers. If you are a beginner and feel you need more development, please visit Beginner to Advanced in 6 Weeks.
