New Series

The 2026 Street Photography Series Has Arrived
Four workshops. Four festivals. Hands-on learning for every level.
Portsmouth is one of New England's most photogenic cities, and this summer, it becomes your classroom. The 2026 Seacoast Photography School Street Photography Series brings together four immersive, field-based workshops set right in the middle of the city's most vibrant street festivals. Whether you're picking up a camera for the first time or ready to break through a creative plateau, this series was built for you.
Each workshop is intentionally small, just 6 participants, so you get real instruction, immediate feedback, and images you'll be proud to share. You'll learn to see differently, shoot with intention, and build confidence out in the streets, right alongside instructor David Mazur, whose hands-on, witty teaching style has guided photographers of all levels through Portsmouth's streets.

What You'll Learn
Mastering the Nifty Fifty (May 9)
Discover the power of one lens. This workshop explores why the 50mm has been a foundational tool for generations of photographers. Walk from Market Square into Strawbery Banke, where historic homes, heirloom gardens, and festival life create rich storytelling opportunities, all with a single focal length. You'll learn to see more clearly, compose with intention, and train your eye, not your gear.
Decisive Moments in B&W (July 11)
Market Square Day draws an estimated 50,000 people into downtown Portsmouth. Streets close to traffic. A pedestrian stage of artists, makers, and spontaneous moments appears. This workshop trains your eye to see meaningful moments in real time, using black and white to strip away color and reveal timing, light, and human gesture with greater clarity and emotion.
Capturing The People & Places (August 1)
Street photography is about revealing the soul of a place through the people who inhabit it. During the Summer in the Street Festival, Pleasant Street becomes a pedestrian stage of music, movement, and spontaneous interaction. You'll learn to observe how people belong to a place and photograph that relationship with intention, empathy, and visual clarity.
Before & After Dark (October 17)
As daylight fades, street photography opens new creative possibilities. This workshop guides you through the transition from golden hour to nightfall, with hands-on practice managing changing light, long exposures, and the mood and mystery that only comes after dark in Portsmouth's compact, lantern-lit downtown.
